Issue:

In early 2011, Jimmy started a major home renovation project. He had planned to redo his kitchen from the studs up when he discovered serious moisture problems. Jimmy inspected the crawl space below and found standing water, mold, and fallen insulation.

Jimmy contacted Crawlspaces Plus for an expert consultation.

Step 1: Drainage Matting
& CleanSpace™ Liner

Solution:

Crawlspaces Plus noted, during its free inspection, that water intrusion, an inferior vapor barrier, and an unsealed broken sump pump were causing standing water.

Crawlspaces Plus remedied the issues by installing a 5/16" CleanSpace™ drainage matting under the patented, 7-ply, CleanSpace™ encapsulation liner. A SmartSump™ sump pump was installed for improved water management. All supported by a 25 year warranty against standing water on the liner.

The masonry foundation piers and the perimeter walls were wrapped with CleanSpace™ 12 mil liner. To maintain optimal humidity and to filter the crawlspace air, a SaniDry™ CSB dehumidifier was included.

Results:

The home was isolated from the earth, and water intrusion and moisture issues were brought under control. The reduced relative humidity inside the crawl space eliminated the conditions that support mold growth. Energy savings alone will pay for the improvement, while he can now enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
